What changed in each release of McKinley. Updates are delivered inside the app via McKinley › Check for Updates.
Wave tool: draws wavy lines
Star tool: surprisingly, draws stars!
Path -> Simplify. Reduces the number of nodes on the selected path (via a slider to control the severity of effect).
Shapes with knockouts now export with many fewer nodes (increases performance when loading the resultant SF Symbol)
Fixes to UI feedback on the license code screen
Lots of correctness improvements to boolean operations, knockouts, and other path operations
You can now hide individual objects (not just whole layers)
New “rounding style” option lets you draw ‘continuous’ rounded corners, like in Apple’s app icons.
Centre guides, both orthogonal and diagonal. Turn them on/off in Settings.
Polygon tool now always draws regular polygons. (You can still resize them to be non-regular afterwards.)
Unified how rounded corners work for rectangles and other shapes
Drag to reorder variants in the sidebar. (The primary variant must stay at the top!)
Clipping masks now show their mask/content in the layers palette.
Window -> Arrange Palettes submenu, to position the palettes around the screen edge or document window.
Preview panel: cell size is now a slider in the toolbar; double click a cell to edit its options; warnings for incompatible options.
Symbol library: fixed issue where the sidebar could get out of sync with the content.
Adornment gallery sheet: improved performance by loading the previews incrementally.
Convert to Paths names a converted text object after its text.
Path booleans now handle two shapes that share a curved edge.
Improved point-interpolation for shapes whose rounded corners differ across symbol weights.
Improvements to dashed lines on closed paths.
Fixed a bug with text colouring on a layer with ‘composites as one unit’.
Fixed: an object set to erase inside a composite layer now draws on the canvas matching Apple’s renderer.
Fixed: editing while a weight other than Regular was on screen could move a clipping mask’s contents without moving the mask.
Export now re-checks point compatibility before writing.
Fixed: cancelling a resize of a mixed selection containing text left the text’s scale changed.
Fixed some issues relating to underlined text and marked text (the way of entering accents via option-e then a letter, for example).
Escape now cancels a ruler guide drag.
Improvements to warnings for damaged documents.
When importing SVG with an even-odd fill rule (which McKinley doesn’t support), now shows a warning.
AppleScript improvements to support the new features.
Opening a document no longer marks it Edited.
SVG import: invisible objects import with no stroke/fill
SVG import: some apps include a ‘canvas background’ solid rectangle in their SVGs. This now imports hidden.
Onion-skin: visual improvements to clarity
SF Symbol import: fixed a bug with nested transforms which would result in the imported symbol being positioned off-canvas.
SF Symbol import: margins now vary on both sides rather than pinning the left margin to the same location.
Many context menu additions/improvements, including to layers palette and variant sidebar.
Break Out Subpaths command
Drag subpaths between paths in the Layers palette
Many improvements to layers palette usability, including better support for dragging within the palette.
